For Some Reason it is August.

I don't have years or months of waiting anymore, I have days. 25 of them. 25 short days until school. In honor of this, the playlist for this month is made up of songs from a few of my favorite high school movies.

1. Oh Yoko-John Lennon- 'Rushmore'
I've always been very fond of this movie and soundtrack. One summer, my dad and I took a road trip to Schlitterbahn and listened to this soundtrack the whole way there and back.

2. Toothpaste Kisses-The Maccabees- 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging'
This movie is so great. It's adorable and witty (and british which makes everything better). Also, the soundtrack is delightful!

3. God is a DJ-Pink- 'Mean Girls'
I think Mean Girls is all I have to say?

4. Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want-The Smiths- 'Pretty in Pink'
Pretty in Pink and The Smiths is a pretty fantastic combo if you ask me. I actually think this is the only John Hughes movie that features a Smiths song!

5. Playground Love-Air- 'The Virgin Suicides'
The Virgin Suicides album is composed entirely by a band called Air. I like the steady sameness of the songs. It works well with the tone of the movie.

I spent way too long making this
6. O Children-Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds- 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 1'
They aren't technically in school anymore in DHP1 but I think this song is a really important part of the playlist.

7. Talk Show Host-Radiohead- 'Romeo + Juliet'
Romeo + Juliet. This movie is perfection. I had a hard time choosing between this song and 'Kissing You' (if you haven't heard it, you should Youtube it right now because it is EXQUISITE). I eventually went with this one because I felt it deserved more attention.

8. Breaking Free- High School Musical
I couldn't help myself with this one. It's the ultimate high school movie musical epic. I honestly believe that my life wouldn't be the same without it.

9. Pearly Dewdrops Drop- Cocteau Twins- The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Gosh, choosing a song from this movie was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made!  It's hard for me to express my love for this book/movie. The soundtrack is euphoric and even though I've listened to it numerous times, it still remains so.

10. Don't You (Forget About Me)-Simple Minds- The Breakfast Club
It's the preeminent high school movie--a triumph for mankind.

So! Let's (try to) get (vaguely) excited together!

Rose Tint My World

I went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show !!! It was crazy, extremely inappropriate and completely amazing. Upon my arrival, I got marked with a V- ;

a 'V' for being a RHPS virgin and a minus for being underage. The actors came into the audience, there was a dance party, we threw toilet paper everywhere when they unwrapped Rocky..it was kind of magical, in a really, really weird way.

One of my many favorite things about TRHPS are the costumes and makeup. Bizarre? Absolutely. However, the movie just wouldn't be the same without them.

I love the dress Janet is wearing. The pink plaid color, daisy buttons and cardigan really show her pre-Transylvanian personality.

In this photo, Janet is demonstrating her full on Transylvanian look. I think my favorite part  is her face mask, which is painted on by I assume either Magenta or Columbia.

I adore this outfit. First of all, she tastefully makes the top hat/bowtie combination look cute and feminine. Second of all, she's wearing fish nets, bobby socks and TAP SHOES. And finally, all of her clothes are delightfully sparkly. I think I just may have just discovered my halloween costume victim.

In addition to the clothes, I also love the set design. It's kind of like an experimental sandwich; cheesy, slightly off-putting and completely original.

Above all else, my two very favorite things about TRHPS are the soundtrack and Tim Curry. They're both flawless. That is all I need to say to conclude this post. Thank you and goodnight.

I miss June.

Where did June go? I'm aghast that it's already July. Next month I'm starting high school and it's a little too much to process. HOLD UP. I'm on vacation! I need to stop thinking about the important things in life! Lets save the "high school" discussion for another post, shall we?

Anyway, this months playlist doesn't really have a theme. I just compiled a bunch of my current favorite songs into one fantastic playlist.

I like the fact that these songs are all somewhat significant to summer (not my summer particularly, just a general air of summertime. Trust me, I don't party like MC) but have nothing in common. I think this might be what makes the playlist so great.

By the way, don't hate on Miley. I like her new persona (even though she's kind of ripping off Rihanna).

My First Day at Big Cedar Depicted in Photos...

...because the blog post I wrote accidentally got deleted and I'm too lazy to rewrite it.

Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri

Yesterday was spent entirely on the road to Missouri. We left at 9:30 (am) and arrived at 5:30 (pm). It's surprising how exhausting sitting all day can be.
While on the road, I couldn't start my computer up for some reason. Therefore, my only sources of entertainment were my phone (the battery lasted the whole way there!) and a book I'm required to read for school called 'The Alchemist'. It was dry and boring and I only read 25 pages. It's the only book I packed. I regret this decision everyday. Hopefully I'll grow to like it in time.
I discovered that my favorite road trip food is probably pancakes. The night prior to the road trip was spent packing, cleaning and making pancakes for the drive. They're the smartest snack ever and I don't think they should be exclusively for breakfast (a little 'The Fault in Our Stars' action there, hehe. I'm seriously not kidding about them being exclusively for breakfast, though. However, believe that (like desserts) they should be eaten occasionally).

Picasso and Monet

On Friday afternoon, my mom and I went to see 'The Bling Ring'. I don't think anyone understands how excited I was for this movie. A full year and a half of waiting and my expectations were exceeded! AH. It was great.

Sofia Coppella's style is so wonderful and unique. I feel like all of her movies are different, yet have the same sad, wistful air to them. At the end of every movie of hers I've seen, I feel an empty, shallow feeling in my stomach. Some people might take this as a negative sentiment but I usually take it as a good one (in terms of seeing a movie). Feeling something after a movie only means I've emotionally invested myself into the lives of the characters.
I already want to see it again! I'll definitely buy it when it comes out so I can add it to my Sofia Coppella collection.

In other weekend news, I went to an art block party event with my dad and friend Ellie. I'm not exactly sure what it was for but there were a plethora of food trucks and all of the museums were free to the public. The highlights of the night were getting snow cones, watching a break dance-off (a little awkward) and taking a "Which Artist Are You?" personality quiz. I had a tie between Picasso and Monet, which a lady commented was "a strange combination".

Le Reve - Pablo Picasso

The Artists Family In The Garden - Claude Monet

I suppose it is kinda strange if you think about it.

This Was Written A While Ago

This morning I woke up to The Beatles and it was simply delightful. It got my day started on the right track. I highly recommend doing this when you have a long morning ahead of you, or perhaps a special occasion.
I danced for an hour and a half and then came home and lounged around. I watched Youtube videos, attempted a smokey-eye, tried on clothes I hadn't worn in years, did a little bit of art and made a June playlist. The playlist is plainly entitled, 'June'. I made it to set a tone to this month. I believe that my song choices were apropos.
I'm kind of ripping off Rookie with this playlist thing. Whateves..
With that said, I haven't been able to stop listening to it! I even sent it to a few of my friends because of the joy it brought me. I think I'm going to add playlist making to my list of creative outlets. I love that the music that I listen to now will always be a memory of my early teenage-hood. Maybe when I'm older, I'll somehow find the playlist I made for June of 2013, and the memories of this very night will come rushing back...

OK, enough with all of this cheesy nostalgic mess (although I do love the feeling of nostalgia).

The first picture below is indeed extremely over-exposed. With all of my curtains drawn, lights on, and an added lamp I still could not achieve a decent picture. Standing completely still for 20+ seconds is much harder than one would think.

However, I got a few neat ghost-y pictures like this one:

I like the way it turned out.

June 2nd; A Sunday.

I love Sunday evenings in the summer. You can do absolutely nothing without feeling bad about yourself. It's the one day of the week where watching 'The Notebook', eating chocolate covered cherries and stalking people on the Internet is totally OK..

Last night I saw 'Star Trek Into Darkness'. It had some flaws, but overall it was really fun and entertaining in a nerdy, silly way (one of the best, in my opinion). I adored the look of the movie and how the whole design felt very 60's. One of my favorite things about the film were the somewhat blurred lights inside the spaceship. They gave off a nice pastel hue in the midst of the stark white interior.
In addition, I ate movie theatre popcorn for the first time in a while. It was delicious.

Yesterday afternoon I had my annual dance recital-- tu-tu's and sparkly costumes and proud parents galore. One of the costume pieces I acquired was a silver-sequined short sleeved jacket that I'm determined to somehow work into my day-to-day wardrobe.

I unfortunately have to go bed now. I'm doing a summer dance intensive that starts at 10:00am, AKA the crack of freaking dawn.

Until tomorrow night!

P.S. I never did end up watching 'The Notebook'. Just the stalking and chocolate cherry eating.

This is a Blog About Everything

After thirty minutes of contemplating the name of this blog, I went with the title of one of my favorite songs. The title will probably change often(until I find something I absolutely adore).

I meant what I said about this blog being about everything. I love most things that life has to offer. I am passionate about the arts, cats, fashion and vegan food. I have started several blogs throughout my pre-teen hood but I eventually stopped writing because I either forgot or lost interest. I most definitely intend on keeping this one.
